About The Eritrean Community Association of Oregon

The Eritrean Community Center of Oregon represents a legacy of resilience and unity, rooted in the experiences of Eritreans who sought refuge in the U.S. due to war and civil unrest beginning in the 1960s. Early migration to Oregon started in the 1980s, supported by nonprofits that played a vital role in resettlement. Officially organized in 1985, the community acquired a permanent location in Northeast Portland by 2003, which remains a hub for resources and gatherings. Today, the Eritrean population in Oregon is estimated at 3,000 to 5,000, primarily in the Greater Portland area.

Our Vision and Goals: Building a Stronger Eritrean Community
